The wedding day is one of the most important days in the lives of both the bride and the groom. As a result, they want to capture this beautiful day on film so they can remember it with accuracy for years to come.

This gigantic task is laid on the shoulders of the photographer to do correctly. If he or she messes up and does not get any good pictures, there is no going back to replay the important day.

You must get all of the correct shots the first time around. There are many things you will want to think about ahead of time to make sure you are properly prepared to capture their special day.

The first thing you will need to do is make a shot list. A shot list is a list of all the poses you want to make sure you get from the bride and groom and all of the family members.

In addition, you will want to consult with the future bride and groom about what shots they want to make sure they get. This is especially important when it comes to get pictures with family members.

You do not want to leave someone out on accident. This could be a tragedy later on.

The second thing you will want to do is get the bride and groom to choose one family member from each side of the family to be in charge of telling people where to stand and what to do for you. It can be very difficult to get the camera ready and shout over fifty people about what they need to do.

Getting someone they know well to direct them avoids you messing with family dynamics and can get the job done much faster. This will save you a headache as well.

The third thing you will want to do is go to the location where the wedding and reception will be taking place. Walk around and visualize various poses, decide where the lighting will be and scout out the best backdrops for your photos.

In addition, if you visit the location before the big day, you can be sure that you will not be late because you get lost. This part is very important as well.

The fourth thing you will want to do is review your past work with the couple so they can set their expectations at the correct level. Every photographer has a different style and they need to know what that style is.

This is also a great time to find out what they want out of the wedding photos, any special things they want pictures of, how many pictures they want, and how many prints they want. You may also want to review how much you will charge them for the wedding and make sure they are alright with the price.

The fifth thing you will want to do happens right before the wedding. You will want to make sure that the sound is turned off well before the room is silent.

While people want pictures, they do not want odd sounds during the special kiss, speeches, or vows. Do not make a big social blunder by accidentally leaving the sound on.

People are very important to photograph on the day of the wedding, but small details are very appreciated later as well. Make sure you capture the rings, backs of dresses, shoes, flowers, table settings, and so forth on the special day.

These photos will really fill out the album that is created later on. If you need ideas, view the pictures in wedding magazines before the big day.

It is also a very good idea to use two cameras on the day of the wedding. Buy, beg, borrow, or hire an extra camera for this wedding day.

Put a different lens on the second camera so that you can get a wider variety of pictures. For example, have a wide angle lens on one camera and a longer lens on the other.

In addition, it can be useful to have a second or backup photographer to catch the things that you missed. If you station yourselves strategically during the wedding ceremony, you will not have to move around as much or be as disruptive.

The most important thing to remember is that you want to be bold so you can capture the best shots. However, you do not want to be overbearing either.
