When you sit down to pedal away your excess pounds on an exercise bike, you have to make sure that you understand how to utilize all of your time. The better that you know yourself and the bike the more useful your workout will be.

First, you want to make sure that you take the time to complete a warm up. Your warm up should always start out with a stretching routine that ensure all of the major muscles in your body are stretched.

This can be difficult, because often times when you walk to the bicycle you will be anxious to get on and get started. The benefits of stretching become very apparent when you start to stretch regularly.

Not only will you experience more flexibility, which is better for your overall health, but you will also notice that you are able to get right into your workout. The blood that is flowing through your muscles will help you push harder faster.

When you sit on the bike, after stretching, you should make sure that you take a few minutes to warm up the biking muscles. After doing this you will dramatically decrease the chances that you have of getting injured.

Second, you want to make sure that you keep your goal in mind. There are a lot of people that start to work out without really knowing where they are going with the workout or what purpose the workout will serve.

If you find yourself in this position, not only will it be easy to get discouraged but it will also be easy to just give up. A goal can help you push through the moments of hardship on the machine to make sure that you reach that goal.

After you have set your goal you want to make sure that you write the goal down. Even just writing the goal down has been proven to help make you more successful as you are reaching to attain the goal.

It seems that for many if the goal is not written down it is hard to remember it and easy to rationalize not attaining it. When the goal is written down you will have evidence of your goal and will not forget what you are working for.

Third, you want to make sure that you take the time to plan out your workout. There are a lot of different programs that you can do on the bike and finding the right one for you may take some time and some tweaking.

There are a lot of people that bike to attain a certain speed while others are only on the bike to make sure they are getting in their exercise for the day. Evaluate what kind of biker you want to be and make sure you stick to that routine.

Fourth, while you are on the machine you have to make sure you find a way to stay focused on your goal and distracted from the pain. There are going to be times while you are pedaling that you will be extremely uncomfortable.

Although there is a big difference between reaching your ultimate limit and being uncomfortable, you have to make sure that you are pushing yourself enough to get results. Some find that this is easier when they have something to distract them.

For example, while you are on the bike you may find that you are able to read your school textbooks. Not only will you be able to get your homework in for the day, but you will also be able to avoid thinking about how strenuous your workout is.

Other people will turn on their favorite television show or they will watch a movie over a few workouts. There are not a lot of people that can just sit on the bike by themselves and pedal through the pain associated with the workout.

Fifth, you always want to make sure that you take care of any and all injuries promptly. It is easy to justify letting your injury go when you are concentrated on the fact that it happened on a stationary object.

Take the time to treat your body well. Do not do detrimental damage when you are trying to exercise.

For some people, working out on an exercise bike just does not cut it. If you have never tried, make sure that you do not push yourself to do something that you absolutely do not enjoy doing when there are so many other exercise machines out there.
