Choosing the right materials for making votive candles for your home-based business is very important. You do not want to use low quality materials that could ruin your reputation as a candle-maker. Following properly the instructions in making candles is significant as well. The procedure is easy; nevertheless, it may take awhile in finishing explaining each step. First, you have to know the boiling point of your wax. If you use paraffin, the boiling point is at 65 degrees Celsius.
If you use beeswax, you have to know that its boiling point is between 62 and 65 degrees Celsius. Bayberry wax is melted at 45 degrees Celsius. Soy wax has 53 to 56 degrees Celsius of melting point, and gel wax has 77 degrees Celsius. Now, which ever wax you will use for you home-based business, bring it to a boil on a melting pot over a burner. While waiting for the pot to reach its melting point, you can spray the molds with mold release agent, but only if the molds are newly bought. For the succeeding usage of such molds, the agent is not a necessity.
If the wax is entirely melted, add the additives. First, if you would like to use vybar then it is the right time to add it. Mix it with a wooden chopstick or stirrer bought from a store. Followed by stearic acid, stir the mixture. Some candle experts believed that it is helpful to use these additives for commercial votive candles. It allows you to save on your wax. If you will use coloring dye, then add it now and stir. The fragrance oil is the last additive to be poured into. Then mix by stirring. Bring to heat again for two or three minutes. Then put off the flame. Set aside your wax.
Prepare your molds and place them on a newspaper so you will not have additional tasks when you spilt your wax. Fill the votives with your wax mixture up to the lip level, save at least 20% for later use. Pour slowly to prevent more bubbles from forming once the mold is filled with wax. Let the molds with wax cool for several minutes. Prepare your pre-tabbed wicks. Make it certain that you have them straightened out, before you insert one by one into the filled-molded, which by now should have started to congeal. The tab should reach the bottom of your molds.
Some experts will tell you to prepare your wick on the molds, and secured by a straw or pencil on top of them before you pour into it the wax. This is tricky as the tab can let loose the wick once you fill the mold until on its lip level. Making candles for your home-based business should be done with perfection, if you may allow me to use the word. When wax starts to congeal, it will not affect the wick in a similar way.
Also, with this method, it is easier to maneuver the wick to straighten them. Depending on the condition of your votive wax however, you may opt for few minutes before you straighten the wick. This will allow the metal tab to stick to the base of the mold. And let us rest at this point.
