Choosing the correct keywords to focus on is one of the most critical components of search engine optimization and Pay per Click campaigns. Keywords can determine your success at being able to build a strong online presence.

Certain words are very competitive. When you search for these words you will get thousands of very relevant results.

These words can be very hard to rank for unless you are a very large corporation. If you are a smaller company these words are not ones that you should try to rank for.

There are plenty of relevant keywords that are related, but will not be so hard to rank for. As you develop an online presence with these words, your company will grow and you may eventually be able to rank for the more competitive terms.

However, the most important thing to remember with SEO and PPC campaigns is that they take time. You will not see the changes overnight.

It is going to take time, patience, and effort. Anything worth anything at all always has take time, effort, and patience.

Many companies do not understand why keywords are so important. The reason that companies host web pages is to get people to buy the product or service they are offering.

They lure these customers in with information. People surf the web to satisfy a need, which is often information.

These people use keywords to find the information that they need. You want them to read your information so they will buy your service or product, so you want your page to show up on the search engines for a specific keyword.

It is much more likely that your page will show up if your page has those keywords in it. Keywords translate directly into sales.

You should not choose any more than three to five keywords. It is hard to incorporate too many words into the copy of your website.

As you write the copy for your website you will want to incorporate the keywords into it. However, you will not want to repeat these words too often or the search engines will be suspicious of you and will not give you ranking.

Use Search Engine Optimization techniques to place the keywords in the right places and in the right quantity. The general rule is that each page should focus on one key word.

For example, if you are a pet store you may have several pages on pets. You may choose to have one page focus on the keyword puppies, another on kittens, and another on lizards.

The most time consuming part of keyword optimization is by far the research required to find the right keywords for your pages. There is no way to cut down this time without it costing you.

The quality of the results of your research will be based on how much time you can devote to researching. Try entering the keyword on Google to see what kind of competition you will be facing if you choose that word as a keyword.

You will find certain combinations of keywords that will return pages of poor quality while a different combination of the same words will return very high quality pages. If you can find a combination of keywords that return poor quality pages, these would be the best keywords to focus on.

People are bound to still search for those words, but there is very little competition. As you look around you may be surprised at how many keywords you can find.

Remember that you can do both plural and singular and various tenses of words. This can expand your available options very quickly.

The density of your keywords to the rest of the content on a page is very important to the search engines when they come through. If your density is too high, the search engine will not move you up on the rankings.

Five to ten percent density is the highest that you should ever risk. It also helps if the key words are placed in prominent locations such as the titles and section headings.

However, they should not stand out as your keywords. The search engines will recognize that if they are too obvious.

If you are willing to put enough time and care into the research, you will be pleasantly rewarded with a much stronger presence online. The strong your presence online is, the more sales you will make the more successful your company will be.
