Working out is very important for your health and will help you live longer and feel better about yourself. The other part of getting healthy is to eat a good diet.
You need to do both things to lose any excess weight and help your body improve in strength. One of the many ways there are out there to improve your body is to use an elliptical machine to work out on.
It is a great way to get a high intensity workout with less impact on your knees and hips and other joints in your legs. Most of these machines have a digital program that you can set up to help you get up to the speed and resistance and intensity level that you want.
The first thing you need to do is set up your machine in an area in your house that has enough room to house it. Some of them are able to be rolled up and stored in a smaller area, but you need to make sure that there is enough room to actually use it when you are not storing it.
Step onto it facing the screen with each foot in a foot rest and start moving your legs in a forward motion to activate the screen. The screen should turn on and ask you what program you want to use.
All of the programs on it have different levels of resistance and intensity. Some programs have you climbing hills and have a harder resistance while others can simulate walking on flat leveled ground.
If this is your first time using it, then you will want to start out a little more on the lighter side so that you do not overdo it the first time. Do not stop moving because if you do then the machine will turn off and you will lose all of your stats and the program you were working on.
There are preset programs that you can use or you can manually set up something that you want and are a little more specific to your needs. On the manual setting, you are able to control your own incline and resistance levels.
Use the arrow buttons to go through all of the different options that are offered. Sometimes there are digital pictures that show you what areas in your body will be worked depending on the setting that you choose.
Choose something that will best fit you, your needs, and what you want to work on. Most of these ask you to input your weight, height, and the time that you want to work out for.
No one else will see these numbers so do not feel embarrassed to enter them into it. They are there for you only and will help you figure out how many calories you are burning and how many calories you should be burning in that time.
As you go through the routine, remember that you are able to stop at any time if you feel dizzy or sick and that you can also slow down the speed or lower the incline. Do not continue the routine if you are not feeling well because you can get seriously hurt if you push yourself too hard.
On the other hand, do not give up easily. You want to make sure that you get a good workout in and it is okay to feel a little short of breath and sore in your muscles because that means that your body is getting the work out that it needs.
Using greater resistance and a bigger incline will give you a harder work out but do not use these settings if you are just starting out. Choose something that will work for you and not overwhelm your body the first time you try it out.
Make sure that you take the time to cool down after the entire session so that you can get your heart rate to slow down properly. Switch up your routine every once in a while so that you do not get bored of it and so that you will continue to do at least three times a week.
